Ingres 11 includes two significant additions for application integration and monitoring. IngresConnect provides an end-to-end solution for designing, deploying and managing data integration, and the Actian Enterprise Monitoring Appliance (EMA) can use Nagios compatible plug-ins now in Ingres to monitor Ingres environments.

Most encodings can represent only a few languages, but UTF-8 handles any language, including Chinese, French and Arabic.

The OpenROAD 5.1 release delivers general-purpose system classes for XML support, to allow creation and parsing of arbitrary XML documents without the need to use 3GL Procedures or External Class Libraries. It provides a new XML based export file format that is documented, human readable, produces clean differences between different revisions of a OpenROAD 4GL source files, allow changes to be merged, and allow OpenROAD source assets to be managed by many different Software Configuration Management (SCM) systems. This release of OpenROAD continues to extend the powerful capabilities of the product for the developer.

Description:
Query Tool (QT) is an Ingres data management application written with the OpenROAD 4GL. It provides a number of user friendly features that allow a developer or data analyst to maintain and manipulate data in their local and remote Ingres installations. The tool provides full QBF style tabular and simple editor interfaces into database tables as well as GUI based version of Joindefs so you can create master detail style interfaces to multiple tables. Data can be readily qualified and browsed using the data browser features. There are a number of handy assistants to help in the creation of select statements, tables, and views and to conveniently assist in the migration of data into Excel or Scalc. The tool also includes facilities to store SQL scripts as part of your database preventing the need to search for them on disk. These scripts can be run in a terminal style interface with full support for the Ingres terminal monitor commands and query buffering.
